We started ground-up\u2014literally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Floor-by-floor detective work<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Apartment by apartment, we used <strong>thermal imaging<\/strong> (for cold spots\/tracks) and <strong>acoustic listening<\/strong> (for active flow). At ground level, cold zones clustered around the <strong>vertical shafts<\/strong>. Opening the shafts showed water with a <strong>downward travel pattern<\/strong>\u2014likely from above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we climbed, the same picture repeated: water arriving <strong>from higher floors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The \u201caha\u201d: drains missing the hopper<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Level 5<\/strong>, we discovered the <strong>kitchen drain wasn\u2019t discharging into the hopper<\/strong>\u2014water was spilling <strong>into the shaft<\/strong> instead of the pipework. Several <strong>AC drain lines<\/strong> were also <strong>missing the hopper<\/strong>, adding to the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Another contributor: a leaky light-well<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We also found that the <strong>shaft terminating by the garage ramp wasn\u2019t properly sealed<\/strong>\u2014we could literally see torchlight through gaps. That allowed stray water to <strong>escape at the bottom<\/strong> where residents noticed it most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Recommendations we issued<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Realign all kitchen and AC drains to discharge into the hopper<\/strong>\u2014no exceptions.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Seal the shaft properly<\/strong> from top to bottom to prevent bypass and weeping.<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These two steps should <strong>stop both leaks<\/strong> at the garage ramp.
