Gżira Garages — The symptom: water from above, water from below
Our client’s garage showed ceiling ingress at the rear. In another internal garage within the same block, water was tracking in at ~80 cm above the floor. Meanwhile, the client was pumping ~500 litres from a well twice daily just to keep up.
Rooftop and meter checks
We accessed the roof with another garage owner to understand the plumbing layout. While a colleague checked water meters, we found four apartments with meters spinning even with tank inlets closed—a sign of potential internal supply leaks.
Wider context
The client mentioned another block up the street pumping to the road at night because their garages flood during the day. We also noted gardens in the vicinity looking over-watered, suggesting chronic subsurface moisture.
Escalation and collaboration
Given the multi-property, multi-source nature of the issue, we contacted WSC’s leak detection team to collaborate. This kind of problem often combines private supply leaks, drainage pathways, and groundwater behaviour.
Where things stand
This is an active investigation with the WSC. Our role is to keep documenting flows, meter behaviour, and ingress patterns so the right fixes—public and private—can be implemented.
If your problem spans more than one building, we’ll coordinate with the right stakeholders. Start with [Water Leak Detection].
