Have you ever experienced that sneaky, frustrating feeling that something’s not quite right in your home? Maybe your water bill has shot up for no apparent reason, or you’ve heard your neighbours complaining about water coming through their ceiling. That’s exactly what happened in Mosta, and we at Leak Detection Malta were called in to sort it out!
The Call: Concerned About a Leak?
Our client in Mosta reached out to us because their downstairs neighbour was having water damage—cue the panic! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the client, who quickly gave us the lowdown on the problem. Time to get to work and track down the source of that hidden leak.
Step One: Finding the Leak with Thermal Technology
Leaks aren’t always easy to spot with the naked eye, which is where our high-tech thermal technology comes into play. We scanned the area and quickly found a cold spot that was running from the ceiling, hidden behind the tiles. You’d never have known it was there just by looking! It’s amazing what can be happening behind walls without you even realising it.
Step Two: Checking the Water Metre
Next, we headed to check the water metre. Now, even though no one was using water, the metre was still ticking away. That’s always a tell-tale sign that something’s not right. We asked the client if we could close off the water tank to see if that would stop the metre from moving. Once we shut off the inlet to the tank, the metre slowed down—but didn’t come to a complete stop. Hmm, there was definitely more to this story.
Step Three: The Solution – Rerouting the Pipes
After a bit more investigating, we realised that the problem was with the water line running from the water metre to the water tank. It was hidden behind the walls and tiles, which made accessing it tricky. Our suggestion? Reroute the water line along the outside of the wall, instead of trying to fix it behind the tiles.
The plumbing team from Leak Detection Malta swung into action, rerouting the water line exactly as planned. No more hidden pipe drama!
Step Four: Follow-up Inspection Needed
We sorted out the water line, but we recommended that a second inspection be carried out to check that cold spot in the kitchen ceiling. It’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to leaks—you never know when they might decide to reappear!
