Għargħur Corridor Mould: The Bath Crack and Tired Shower Grout

The picture on arrival

The client reported mould along a corridor wall adjacent to a bathroom. We inspected the bathroom envelope, fixtures and any back-to-back cupboards.

Findings

  • Freestanding bath: a crack at the rear where splashes migrate.
  • Shower: grout degraded and letting water travel through; cupboard behind showed secondary mould.
  • Thermal patterns matched repeated wetting and drying, which drives mould growth in predictable bands.

What we recommended

  • Replace/repair the freestanding bath and re-grout the shower, including corners and upstands.
  • Dry, clean, and treat affected surfaces with mould-inhibiting systems.
  • Improve bathroom extraction; keep RH low during and after showers.

We pinpoint sources so repairs are targeted—not guesswork. Start with [Water Leak Detection].
