Large venues rarely have simple leak problems. At a Mellieha hotel, the maintenance team had several symptoms across different areas, so the inspection had to be methodical rather than dramatic.
The goal was to separate the issues, log findings and give the in-house team a prioritised next step.
Issue 1: corridor leak
Thermal imaging highlighted a localised anomaly outside a guest room. That area was marked for targeted repair checks rather than opening multiple areas unnecessarily.
Issue 2: pool bar area
Near the pool bar, thermal observations and knowledge of the build-up suggested water may have been migrating through failed grout or waterproofing details into the garages below.

Issue 3: garage water near the toilet area
Acoustic and thermal methods pointed to more than one possible source: a leak inside the men’s toilet shaft and a second issue near an external planter.
After excavation, the planter soil was waterlogged but no active pipe was found there. Further thermal and acoustic testing traced the concern toward the main line feeding the men’s toilets from the women’s toilet area. The line was isolated and the client monitored the garage afterwards.
